Help with Writing

Collaboration is a radical act. The next time you're writing and feeling seditious or complicit or complacent or just a tad bold, come find collaborators, who modestly refer to themselves as "peer tutors." All of these collaborators have completed a one-semester course with Professor Dearing.

Peer tutoring FAQs

All tutoring takes place in the Kollett Center. Click here for the writing tutors' schedules

We encourage all students to share their writing with peer tutors, who offer careful, close readings and thoughtful approaches to writing.

If you feel, however, that you need more specialized support, you might wish to contact one of our Writing Associates: Connie Campana, Sherry Mason or Ruth Foley. The Associates teach various writing classes and tutor students working on Honors Theses, learning English as a second language, and developing strategies to cope with learning differences.

Basic Writing

If you feel you are underprepared for college writing, you might consider enrolling in Basic Writing (English 010), a half-credit course taught alternately by Professor Campana and open to all students.
