Using Frontier to Edit Your Web Pages
Frontier vs. FTP: Frontier is our web editor, the place where you can edit and create new text. Any adjustments you wish to make to your web pages can be done through Frontier.
Within Frontier, you can type the address of an image you would like to include, but you'll need to take one more step before that image can appear on your page. This is the role of FTP. Use FTP to place an image on the college's web server. Once it's there, you can use Frontier to point to it and pull that image into your page.
How to use Frontier: Point your browser to Frontier's login screen located: www.wheatoncollege.edu/edit

Web Page Editor homepage: This page provides you with two things: the Help page and the Log in page.
1) Help Page: Read through the Help page before starting. We recommend keeping the Help page open in another window while working within the Web Editor for easy reference.
2) Log In:

Log in using your Frontier username and password. Then click the "Submit" button.

Log in follow-up screen: This screen provides you with some options which include: Change my web editor password, Edit a web page, and Update my staff profile. To choose an option, click on the little circle to the left of the option and if it fills in, click "Submit", it will take you to the selected screen.
1) Change my web editor password: This screen allows you to type in your new password twice and submit. You have changed your password.
2) Edit a Web Page: This will take you deeper into the web editor, allowing you to make changes to your allotted web pages.
3) Update my staff profile: If you have a staff profile that needs updating, you can do so here.
Select the "Edit a web page" option and click the "Submit" button.

Anatomy of your index page: Click through to select the web page you wish to edit.
Web page icons: The results of the previous step should show you a list of pages you can acces and edit.
1) The page icon (edit): This brings you to the actual editing screen where you can work directly on the page.
2) The folder with red arrow icon (go up): This icon allows you to navigate into sub-folders housing the pages.
3) The magnifying glass icon (view): This will open a new window and show you a page in its web format.

Clicking on the Page Icon: This brings you into your editing workspace. Please make sure you have your Help page either in another window or in hard copy for reference.
1) Page Title: You can change the page title if the one that appears is not correct, but do not include any punctuation or HTML.
2) MetaDescription: Providing a quick description of your page is a good tool for you to keep track of your pages, but it also serves as the description users see in the search engine results.
3) Crumb: This is a navigation tool for your users but before taking action, you should check with your web administrator. Crumbs are the little links that show up on the top left of the template informing the user of where they are within the site.
4) Review cycle: You can determine how often you want this site to be reviewed by using the drop down menu. You will receive reminders to review the site.
5) Text box: This is where the magic happens. Examples for inserting images and links are on the bottom left of your screen. *Please review the Help Page for formatting instructions and help inserting links, images, and tables.
When you are ready, click the "Save and publish page" button to update your page.

We always check our work by selecting the "You may view it. . ." link!
Select the "You may edit another page by clinking here" link to continue editing. Do not select your browser's "back" button to make edits to your page.
If you have completed your work, you may close your browser to quit out of the Web Editor.
