Public Printing at Wheaton College
This page outlines the basic information needed to connect your Windows XP PC or Macintosh OSX computer to printers located on campus. If you need further assistance after reading this document please call the LIS Technical Support Staff at x3900.
Windows XP Directions
- Go to Start -> Printers and Faxes
- Go to Start -> Run and type in "\\printserver" without the "quotes" and hit enter.
- Within the printserver window drag and drop the name of the printer you would like to connect to into your local Printers and Faxes window and select Install.
Macintosh OSX Directions
Note: Before you can print a printer, you might first have to download and install the printer driver if it is not already listed as an available printer type.
- From the Mac OSX Finder go to Go --> Applications --> Utilities --> Printer Setup Utility
- Select the Add button from the top menu
- Click the IP Printer button and select Line Printer Daemon - LPD from the Protocol menu
- For the Address: enter either the printer name. Leave the Queue: blank. From the Printer Model: pull down menu select Xerox then Xerox Phaser 5500N then select Add
