October 5-9

Coming Out Stories. Read the coming out stories of LGBTQ and allies of Wheaton faculty, staff, and students. Chase Round.

October 14

Come Out! Customize your own “coming-out” t-shirts and wear them proudly during the month. 12 PM, Atrium, Balfour.

October 15

Wear your Coming Out T-shirts! You just made them last night. Put them on this morning, and show them off proudly all day.

 Ignacio Rivera. A slam poetry performance that reflects on multi-gender & multi-racial experiences within the Latino and Queer communities in the U.S. and the Caribbean. Enjoy a breath-taking piece by the artist and the enlightening discussion afterwards. 8 PM, Lyons Den.

October 16

No Stupid Questions. A panel stands ready to answer all the questions you always had about LGBTQ and ally topics, but were afraid to ask. 8 PM, Lyons Den.

October 21

Intersection of Identities. A panel of women come together to discuss just how their multiple identities impact their perspectives on the LGBTQ/ally community at Wheaton and in the larger world. Join us for this engaging panel followed by Q&A. 5 PM, Meneely 301.

October 22-23

Petition Signing. Sign a petition against oppressive laws which repress the LGBTQ community. Your signatures will be sent to United States government officials. Chase Dining.

October 22

Stonewall Revisited. Become captivated as Wheaton students perform a dramatic reading of first-hand accounts of those present during the 1969 Stonewall riots. 7 PM, New Yellow Parlor, Balfour.

October 23

Transgender 101 Training. An introduction to transgender issues and ways to be an ally. To sign up, you must be Ally 101 certified and contact: Nadia Omar.  2 PM.

 

October 27

Coming Out. Being Out. Have you recently come out? Are you in the process of coming out? Come share your thoughts, experiences, and concerns about coming out/being out as LGBTQ in different areas of your life: at Wheaton, at home, at work, in your religion, and with friends. 7 PM, Counseling Center.

 

October 28

What Do You See? Gender Workshop. What assumptions do we make about gender when we look at people? How do we interact with people when they don't fit into the binary genders we are socialized to use? Join us for this workshop where we address and hopefully throw away our assumptions about gender identity. 5 PM, Meneely 301.

 

October 29

Rocky Horror Picture Show: Midnight Screening. Come watch this bizarre musical comedy and cult classic. It’s an homage to B-movies, sci-fi, and horror all rolled into one crazy storyline. Also, Tim Curry in drag. You won't want to miss this. 11:30 PM, SGA Office, Balfour-Hood.
