Kudos from the past
Among the many congratulatory cards Ronald Crutcher received was a very special one from one of his high school teachers, Ms. Elizabeth Bazell. "She was one of the best teachers that I have ever had," Crutcher recalled. "In fact, I used notes from her Advanced Placement American History class for an Honors American History class I took at Miami; we could choose our own text for the class, and I simply used my rather detailed high school notes."
Here is an excerpt from her letter:
"Here I ama voice from your past. Many years ago I taught at Woodward High SchoolAdvanced Placement American History to be exactand you were one of my students. ...I, like most teachers, remember only the best and the brightest (and in some cases the worst!), and you fit into the former category. You were in my "early bird" class that met at the crack of dawn each day, and you were a wonderful student. You didn't just get good gradesyou were a thinker, an analyzer, and best of all, a young man of character. I have never forgotten you, and I have followed your career along the wayalways glad to notice your successes. ...Students like you are what made teaching so worthwhile!"
