Philip Dauria '07 captured a motocross competitor in midair--and first prize in the Boston Photographers Association 2007 student photography contest in the sports category. Dauria shot the photograph in July 2006 at a competition in Huntington Beach, Calif. "I set up to the right of the landing area and as close as I could get," said Dauria. "I used my telephoto lens and basically just followed the riders from takeoff 'til landing, with my finger on the shutter release, shooting continuously."
