CAMPUS NEWS AND EVENTS
The road less traveled
Eleven members of the Class of 2006 chose to develop their own majors by drawing on a variety of courses, internship experiences and independent studies. How did they navigate the solo path? (Read all about it here.)
Podcasting primer
Wheaton faculty and students are trying out podcasting, in and out of the classroom. Among their offerings: poetry, plays and pictures of the "Great Communicator." (Read story.)
2010 by the numbers
We're looking forward to welcoming more than 400 first year students to campus later this summer. The diverse and talented Class of 2010 survived the most selective admission process in Wheaton's history: only 40.7 percent of applicants were accepted. What's more:
- They posted an impressive 3.45 average GPA.
- Nearly 60 percent of them graduated in the top 10 percent of their class.
- They represent 27 states and 28 countries, including Uzbekistan, Bhutan and Israel.
- Thirteen percent are self-declared students of color, and 43 percent are men - an all-time high.
The Admission staff has already begun recruiting the Class of 2011. Prospective students are welcome to sign up to receive Wheaton mailings.

Making art in Ireland
Art professors Andy Howard and Tim Cunard and 15 of their students have completed a three-week summer class in western Ireland. The students agreed that the experience "made them better artists, caused them to be more introspective, [and] provided them the opportunity to look themselves in their artistic eye to see what was really there," Howard wrote in a blog reflecting on the trip.
