CAMPUS NEWS AND EVENTS
'Making the world a better place'
Wheaton has been named one of four 2005 Truman Scholarship Honor Institutions by the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation. The award, presented to the college at opening convocation, recognizes Wheaton's success in promoting the values of social responsibility and in preparing students to be leaders through public service careers. Wheaton has produced five Truman scholars in the last four years and eight since 1988. The honor "affirms the commitment of our students, alumnae/i, faculty and staff to making the world a better place," said President Ronald A. Crutcher. (More)
Wheaton mobilizes in response to Hurricane Katrina
Students, faculty and staff are joining in the national groundswell of philanthropic activity to support survivors of Hurricane Katrina. At a September 6 meeting, community members explored ways to organize and help, ranging from donation collections to arts events to direct service opportunities during semester breaks. Read more about Wheaton's response here, and keep abreast of unfolding developments on our update pages.

"As in 1968, the majority of Americans no longer support the Iraq war," says Bloom, who also points out significant differences between the two periods. (More)

ANNUAL FUND
It's your calljoin us for this fall's phonathon
Wheaton students aren't the only ones making calls to support the Annual Fund. Every year, we count on a loyal group of alumnae/i volunteers to help out by calling their classmates during National Phonathon Weeks. This year, NPW will be held November 1-14, and we need your help. To volunteer or to learn more, please call Melissa Nederostek in the Office of Alumnae/i Relations and Annual Giving (508-286-3550) or send an e-mail to nederostek_melissa@wheatoncollege.edu. Thank you!
