Wheaton to go
Wheaton takes to the road this winter with Intersections 2006, a program of seminars by Wheaton faculty for Wheaton alumnae, alumni and parents. President Crutcher will present welcoming remarks at sessions in New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Palm Beach, Florida. Look for your invitation in the mail, and preview seminar topics online now.
Come aboard the "ARK"
Students, faculty and staff in the arts have come together to establish Arts Relief for Katrina (ARK) in response to the hurricane disaster. The group is selling original-design t-shirts to benefit hurricane victims and the rebuilding of New Orleans. What a terrific way to support a great cause and show your pride in the arts at Wheaton all at once. Learn how to order.
FACULTY FOCUS
Developing the 24/7 language tutor
Wheaton students are exploring the future of computer intelligence while also studying an ancient language, thanks to computer science professor Lisa Michaud, who is developing a Web-based tutoring program that combines her interests in English and artificial intelligence. "That's why I'm here at Wheaton," Michaud said. "I knew that I wanted to be in a liberal arts environment. I didn't want to be at a place where people would ask why you were interested in more than one subject." (More)
