Wheaton greenhouse holds open house for local community
April 17, 2000
Make way for summer growth spurts! The Wheaton College Greenhouse will host an open house and plant repotting clinic on Friday, May 5 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and again from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. This will be the last one before summer, and greenhouse caretaker Jane Young urges you to repot your houseplants before summer to allow for their summer growth spurt.
The greenhouse will be open for casual touring. Visitors are encouraged to bring a houseplant they wish to repot and a pot two inches larger than the current container. The greenhouse staff will assist aspiring ''green thumbs'' as needed, and advise on proper plant care. Potting soil is provided.
Located at the rear of the Wheaton Science Center, the greenhouse provides facilities for student and faculty research projects. Donations to cover the costs of the soil are accepted in lieu of an admission fee.
