Wheaton Annual Fund sets record for passing $1 million mark
December 13, 1999
The Wheaton Annual Fund set a new record last week as it passed the $1 million mark, the first milestone on the way to raising $3 million by June 30, 2000.
The Wheaton Annual Fund total reached $1,118,067 from 1,460 donors on Thursday, Dec. 9. This is the earliest Wheaton has passed the $1 million mark, beating last year's record by just over one week. The total also offers encouraging news in alumnae/i participation as it includes more than 1,100 alumnae/i donors, 3 percent increase in alumnae/i participation over last year.
"The end of the year is a popular time for many alumnae/i and parents to make gifts to Wheaton," says Heather Corbett ’86, director of Annual Giving. "We’re doing better than we ever have before, but we still have a lot of gifts to go before we reach our $3 million goal for June 30, 2000."
The early success in fundraising is particularly welcome since the Alumnae/i Association’s Annual Giving Committee has set an ambitious agenda for the final year of the Campaign for Wheaton: a $3 million goal that represents 40 percent participation by alumnae/i and a $400,000 increase over last year.
