Wheaton's Holiday Vespers to ring in the new century
November 29, 1999
Brass and bells will accompany the Wheaton Chorale as they ring out the old century and ring in the new with their annual candlelight Holiday Vespers concert on Sunday, December 5 at 7:30 p.m., in Wheaton College’s Cole Chapel.
The 1999 program will feature works of Victoria, Praetorius, Mendelssohn, and Brahms, along with Hebrew and Sephardic folk songs and a variety of familiar carols. Tim Harbold will conduct the program, with assistance from Ryan Saunders '00. The vespers program will also feature Norton residents Carlton T. Russell on organ and Kathryn Work on piano.
As in the past, the campus will glow with luminaria for the event, and attendees are invited to a post-concert reception in the Balfour-Hood Atrium, with caroling from the college's student-led vocal ensembles. Vespers is open to the public without charge. Donations in support of local charities are welcome. For further information, please contact the Wheaton College music department at 508-286-3570.
