Wheaton theatre deparment performs 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum'

October 22, 1999

Wheaton College celebrates "The Year of the Arts" with the theatre department’s production of "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum." Opening November 12, the show runs for two weekends, with evening performances through November 20 and matinee performances through November 21.

The popular vaudevillian farce centers on a Roman slave, Pseudolus, who will stop at nothing to earn his freedom. The show moves rapidly and with high energy through multiple mishaps and misunderstandings to the hilarious finale. Inspired by plays written in the second century by the Roman playwright Plautus, this musical production is a blend of strong comedic acting, clever humor, and lively music.

"A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," will be playing at Wheaton College’s Watson Theatre at 8 p.m. on November 12, 13, 18, 19, and 20. Matinees are at 2 p.m. on November13, 14, and 21. Tickets are $5 for senior citizens and students, and $10 for the general public. For ticket reservations and directions please call Wheaton’s Watson Theatre at 508-286-3575.
