Reno brings presidential election issue to campus
November 10, 2000
[Norton, Mass.] -- Attorney General Janet Reno came to Wheaton College last night to talk about her job and life, but found herself fending off questions about the still-unresolved presidential election.
Chosen as the speaker for this year's Miriam Lee Tropp Memorial Lecture, Reno drew New England's press corps as well as an overflow crowd of students and faculty to the Hindle Auditorium, all hoping to hear what the Attorney General had to say about alleged voting irregularities in Flordia.
Although she began by saying that she could not comment on the election, Reno fielded questions about the unprecedented situation once she opened the floor to discussion with the audience.
