''The Lesson'' to be performed in French at Wheaton
October 5, 2000
Students of French and francophones will welcome French actor Claude Beauclair and his troupe on Monday, October 16, at Wheaton College. Beauclair and his troupe will perform Eugene Ionesco's La lecon (The Lesson) in French.
Playwright Ionesco, best known for his work, The Chairs, has a penchant for the absurd and La Lecon is no exception. A simple lesson between a timid professor and his eager pupil turns into an explosion of verbal aggression and madness in which words themselves seem to magically take control of man.
The performance, which is open to the public without charge, begins at 8:00 p.m. in Watson Auditorium. For more information and directions to Wheaton College, call 508-286-3630, or log onto www2.wheatonma.edu/academic/academicdept/french/sched.html.
