Cabinets of Curiosity: Collections from the Wheaton Community

(December 2007 - January 2008)

What do members of Wheaton’s faculty and staff collect? When asked to curate an exhibition, this question came to the minds of two student employees in the Art History Department. We decided to create an exhibition that would display items from the personal collections of Wheaton faculty and staff, twenty-two of whom loaned items ranging from Buddhist scrolls to doll house families to rubber ducks.

The exhibition can now be viewed in the library and in the wall display cases near Ellison Lecture Hall in Watson. We hope that the Wheaton community enjoys viewing the collections while learning more about staff members and faculty at Wheaton.

This exhibition was co-curated by Kayla Malouin and Lauren Salois, both members of the Class of 2010, under the supervision of Professor Leah Niederstadt. Kayla collects medieval objects and movie and museum ticket stubs while Lauren collects hand-blown glass beads.
