WheatonCollege - Wireless Network Instructions

Follow the steps below to connect to the WheatonCollege wireless network. Note: The instructions below assume you're using the Windows XP Wireless Utility. If you're using the utility provided by the network card manufacturer follow their instructions for wireless network configuration. Use the following information:

Network Name (SSID): WheatonCollege
Authentication Type: WPA-PSK
Encryption Type: TKIP
Network/Encryption Key: wheatoncollege


Windows Wireless Configuration
Automatic Instructions

1. Open the Windows Wireless Network Configuration utility by double-click on the icon in the Notification Tray.


2. Select WheatonCollege from the list of networks and click Connect


3. Enter in wheatoncollege for the network key and click Connect


4. Once it has connected the dialog box will indicate so.


You may also see the icon change in the Notification Tray


Windows Wireless Configuration
Manual Instructions

If your wireless card doesn't see the network automatically you may have to manually configure it:

1. Open the Wireless Network Configuration Utility by double-click on the icon in the Notification Tray.


2. Click on Change the order of preferred networks from the left menu.


3. Click on the Add button on the bottom left


4. Enter in the information below:
Network Name (SSID): WheatonCollege
Authentication Type: WPA-PSK
Encryption Type: TKIP
Network/Encryption Key: wheatoncollege

4a. Click OK

5. You should now see WheatonCollege (Automatic) in the Preferred networks list. Click OK again and Windows will connect.


6. You should now see the wireless icon change to indicate it is connected
