Windows 98 Security Fix
There is a security fix for Windows98 users that allows access to ResNet servers and printers.
Electronic Mail
We recommend our new webmail. It is fast and can be accessed from anywhere by using your web browser. It can be found at http://webmail.wheatoncollege.edu.
You may also want to use Eudora, available from http://www.eudora.com.
Web Browser
We recommend that you use Netscape Navigator (http://home.netscape.com/computing/download/) or Internet Explorer (http://www.microsoft.com/IE) as your web browser.
FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
For Macintosh users, Fetch is the preferred FTP client software. It is available at http://www.dartmouth.edu/pages/softdev/fetch.html.
WS_FTP is a fine FTP product for Windows. You can download a copy at http://www.ipswitch.com/cgi/download_eval.pl?product=WL-1000.
Telnet (Terminal emulation)
Get NCSA Telnet for the Macintosh at http://ncsa.uiuc.edu/SDG/Software/MacTelnet/.
QVT/Term for Windows is shareware; you can download it from http://www.qpc.com/qvtterm43.html.
We have a site license that allows faculty and staff to use Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and FileMaker Pro. Contact the Computer Connection (x3928) for information.
