Wheaton's special weekend for alumnae and alumni, families, students and faculty is just around the corner! Come spend some time with your Wheaton family, October 23-26. We've got a great line-up of events in store. Read on for weekend highlights, including events of special interest to families.

Ruby Lecture: Poet Robert Pinsky,
Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Start your weekend early with an evening of poetry! The Jane Ruby Lecture Series presents Robert Pinsky, U.S. poet laureate from 1997 to 2000. Pinsky's widely influential work is evocative of jazz improvisation, and he is known for bringing poetry to the people through the Favorite Poem Project and on PBS's "NewsHour with Jim Lehrer." Reception and book signing to follow.

Choosing Wheaton's Next President,
Alumnae/i session, Saturday at 11 a.m.
Parents session, Saturday at 1 p.m.
Wheaton stands at an exciting crossroads as the college seeks its next leader. What are the characteristics and qualities our new president must embody? What are the greatest challenges that leader will face? We want to hear from you. Join us for an open discussion with members of the Presidential Search Committee.
Alumnae/i Association Fall Celebration, Saturday at noon
Their leadership and dedication inspire others to the call of service. Alumnae/i, parents and students are invited to join us in honoring Alumnae/i Achievement Award winners Nancy Woodruff Wheeler '45, P'76, Janet Tiebout Hanson '74, Elaine Dezenski '92 and Leslie Badham '94 at their recognition ceremony.
Homecoming Luncheon, Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Parents are invited to dine with their sons and daughters in Chase Dining Hall. Alumnae/i are invited to dine together in Emerson Dining Hall. ($8 per person, ticket required.)
Mirrione Field Dedication, Saturday at 2 p.m.
Celebrate the completion of the Christina A. Mirrione '99 Stadium, the new home of Wheaton women's soccer. Afterwards, stay to cheer on the team as they take on Smith College.
Holcombe M. Austin Tree Walk, Saturday at 2 p.m.
From American beech to Zelkova, Wheaton's trees are glorious to behold. Take in their autumn splendor as College Archivist Zeph Stickney leads the traditional Wheaton tree walk, named in memory of its creator, the late Professor of Philosophy Emeritus Holcombe M. Austin.
Loser Concert: Marian Anderson String Quartet, Saturday at 8 p.m.
They have played in world-class concert halls and in prisons and soup kitchens, in their quest to make chamber music accessible to all. Now this acclaimed quartet, the first African American ensemble to win a major classical music competition, comes to Wheaton for a performance featuring music of Beethoven and Dvorák. Reception with the performers to follow. (No charge, but pre-registration is required.)
Paintings and Sculpture by Alumnae Artists,
Thurs. - Sat., 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Visit the elegantly renovated Beard Gallery in Watson Fine Arts to view paintings by Judith Knight Nulty '66, whose work is featured in numerous private and public collections; and sculpture by Squidge Liljeblad Davis '65, resident artist for the state of Maine since 1978.
Mini-reunions
What a great way to reconnect with fellow alumnae/i and with Wheaton today! Several mini-reunions are in the works--one for the class of '54; one for the classes of '75, '76, '77 and '78; and one for Wheaton's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Alumnae/i (LGBTA) group. Special events include a panel discussion on life transitions for the Seventies classes and a "Welcome Back" reception for LGBTA alumnae/i and partners, and Wheaton staff and faculty. Questions? Picture your future in art. Recent alumnae/i who majored in art and art history outline their career and graduate school paths in a panel discussion exploring the possibilities.
The Global Classroom, Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
Wheaton students travel around the world to study and conduct research as recipients of Davis International Fellows awards. Journey afield with these scholars and recent recipients of other international fellowship awards to hear about their exciting learning experiences.

President Dale Rogers Marshall will update parents on current happenings and preview the Wheaton College year ahead.

Celebrate our spiritual community at Wheaton's annual multifaith service.
