Asking Questions

You should view your interiew as an opportunity to gather information about the company, the culture, and the details of the position.

Just as an employer is interviewing you to see if you fit the requirements of a position, you are intervieiwng your potential employer to see if the position/company is the right match for you.

How to handle your own questions:

1. Use your questions to show that you have researched the company.

2. Make your questions reflect your ambition (opportunities for future growth).

3. Ask about the interviewer≠s personal experience (why they applied to this
company, were expectations met, etc.).

4. Do not ask about money or benefits.

5. Ask easy questions.

6. Bring written questions with you.

7. Take notes.

8. Never interrupt.

9. Keep your questions short.

10. Ask the closing question concerning timeline.

Possible Questions you may want to ask

Please note that not all questions below are appropriate for a first interview- tailor your questions to your specific situation

1. What are the key responsibilities for this particular position?

2. How would you describe the company's culture?

3. What resources are available to this position?

4. Tell me about the people at this level in the organization. With whom would
I be interacting?

5. What is the first challenge that needs the attention of the person you hire?

6. What about my background interests you?

7. What three things would you like someone to accomplish in this position during the first six months to a year?

8. Could you tell me the history of the position?

9. How will you define success in this position. How is performance measured?

10. How would you define the company≠s strategic objectives? Short term objectives?
