Vengroff becomes fifth member of Wheaton's 1,000-kill clubOctober 6, 2005
With seven kills against Wesleyan later in the day, Vengroff moved past Patti Harrington '95 into fourth place in the school's annals for career kills. Vengroff was named all-tournament by virtue of recording 29 kills and 17 total blocks during the Lyons' three matches. Through October 4, Vengroff leads the Lyons with 157 kills, a .227 hitting percentage, 29 solo blocks and 12 blocking assists this season. She is also third with 24 service aces. Entering the week, Vengroff was sixth in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) in blocks per game, 10th in kills per game and 10th in hitting percentage. Vengroff has helped the Lyons to a 4-11 record and 2-3 mark in the NEWMAC, good for a fifth-place tie in the 10-team league. Wheaton, which is competing under first-year head coach Kelli Myers, has four league matches remaining while on pace for its best conference finish since 2003. Vengroff leads the Lyons into this weekend's 25th annual Crabtree Classic, hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University. In 104 career matches, Vengroff has posted 1,013 kills and a .265 hitting percentage, which is good for fourth in program history. Her 338 total blocks rank fifth at Wheaton while Vengroff has attempted the ninth-most attacks. She needs just 76 attempts to become the seventh Lyon with 2,500 in a career. Wheaton's 1,000-Kill List
