The Blue and White is now 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the league after avenging a loss to the team that eliminated it from the 2006 league tournament. Mount Holyoke is 1-5 and 0-4. The visitors took two of three doubles points to forge a lead. Freshmen Sarah Geocaris (Newport Beach, CA/Sage Hill School) and Catherine Teague (Manchester, NH/Central) notched an 8-1 victory in the top spot, while first-years Chelsea Cordes (Jamestown, RI/North Kingstown) and Bethany Pine (Providence, RI/Wheeler School) earned an 8-5 triumph at three in their first match as a tandem. It was Pine's initial college victory. In the second position, Mount Holyoke sophomores Beatrix Hartmann (Redding, CT/Mount Saint Mary) and Sarah London (Mount Pleasant, SC/Academic Magnet) notched an 8-4 win to keep their team within a point heading into singles. Wheaton clinched the team victory when Geocaris, Teague and freshman Ellen Van Faasen (Manchester, MA/Manchester Essex Regional) each won in straight sets during singles action. Teague notched a 6-4, 6-0 victory in the top spot, Geocaris yielded just one game at number two, and Van Faasen nabbed a 6-3, 7-5 victory during her first collegiate match at third singles. Hartmann and London picked up two of Mount Holyoke's singles victories, as London collected a 6-1, 6-3 win at four, and Hartmann triumphed in the fifth position, 7-6, 6-2. During her first collegiate singles match, Pine took the first set in the sixth spot by a 6-3 score before falling in each of the final two sets by a 6-3 count to sophomore Eleni Scordilis (Florence, MA/Northampton).
