Hudgins earns second career NEWMAC All-Conference accoladeApril 29, 2008 WORCESTER, MA- Wheaton College men's tennis standout Kyle Hudgins (Uxbridge, MA/Uxbridge) earned his second career New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) all-league accolade during Tuesday's postseason meeting at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). Named to the second team at third singles after being selected to the first squad as a freshman in the sixth singles position, Hudgins posted a 4-1 conference mark, including a perfect 4-0 standing at number three. He defeated foes from Babson College, Clark University, Springfield College and the United States Coast Guard Academy. For the season, Hudgins went 10-3 in dual matches at third singles and 11-5 overall. Adding tournament play, he won 12 of his first 14 matches en route to a 12-6 mark. Hudgins was also a strong contributor in doubles, siding with three different teammates to post a 12-9 record. Five of those decisions came in tournament action. In the second position, he recorded a 9-4 mark. Halfway through his career, Hudgins has boasted a 22-10 singles record and a 16-12 doubles mark. He helped lead the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast region's 18th-ranked team to a 9-7 record. Finishing the league slate at 2-3, the Lyons advanced to their ninth NEWMAC Tournament semifinal in the conference's 10-year history before being knocked out by 10-time defending champion Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
