Krantz earns first career NEWMAC men's tennis player-of-the-week nod

April 7, 2008

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College men's tennis standout Brian Krantz (Milford, CT/Joseph A. Foran) earned his first career New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Singles Player-of-the-Week selection for the week ending on Sunday, April 6. Krantz's honor marks the team's fourth in four weeks.

In Wheaton's lone match of the week, a home conference contest against the United States Coast Guard Academy on Saturday, Krantz picked up a 6-2, 6-0 decision in the fourth position. The freshman has won three straight matches and is 7-1 at number four this spring. He has posted an 8-3 singles mark since last fall and an 8-5 doubles record, having gone 6-2 from the second doubles slot.

Helping lead the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast region's 18th-ranked team to a 7-2 overall record and 2-0 conference mark, Krantz and the Lyons take aim at a fourth consecutive victory tomorrow when they host Salem State College at 5:00 p.m. Tomorrow's action will conclude Wheaton's six-match homestand, as its remaining four contests are slated for the road.
