Little and Poulin compete at ITA regional tennis tournament

September 29, 2007

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- Sophomore James Little (Mount Desert, ME/Mount Desert Island) and freshman Greg Poulin (Boxboro, MA/Home Schooled) were the Wheaton College men's tennis team's lone representatives at this weekend's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Tournament hosted by Williams College.

The tandem opened play in doubles action, dropping a tough 7-3 tiebreaker in falling 9-8 to University of Southern Maine junior Derek Stevenson (Raymond, ME/Windham) and sophomore Joshua Warren (Hermon, ME/Hermon) in the first round.

Moving to the consolation round, Little and Poulin were eliminated from competition by Trinity College sophomore Nicholas White (Wellesley, MA/Wellesley) and freshman David Patrick Jr. (Atlanta, GA/The Westminster Schools), 8-6.

Little, who also represented Wheaton in the singles bracket, took on Amherst College senior Geoff Schwartz (Dallas, TX/Lakehill Prep) following his pair of doubles matches. Little ended up losing by a count of 6-1, 6-1, and he did not compete in the consolation round.

The Wheaton team concludes its fall next weekend at the Stonehill College Invitational. The event is scheduled to last two days beginning on Saturday.
