Third straight 9-0 win keeps Wheaton tied atop NEWMAC standingsApril 7, 2007 NEW LONDON, CT- The Wheaton College men's tennis team won its third straight 9-0 decision, downing the United States Coast Guard Academy in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday. The Lyons won their fourth straight and are 7-2 overall while remaining tied for first place in the league at 2-0. The Bears are 4-3 and 0-2. In doubles action, seniors Brian Danishevsky (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall Country Day School) and Brad Dressler (Cranston, RI/Cranston West) picked up an 8-4 victory at the top spot, and Wheaton's other senior tandem of Raymour Radhakrishnan (Amherst, NH/Bridgton Academy) and Will Stoddard (Huntington, VT/Mount Mansfield Union) won 8-3 at number two. In the third position, freshmen Kyle Hudgins (Uxbridge, MA/Uxbridge) and James Little (Mount Desert, ME/Mount Desert Island) notched an 8-5 triumph. Each of Wheaton's six singles players earned straight-set wins, including Radhakrishnan without dropping a point at the fifth spot. Danishevsky and Dressler each yielded only three points in the second and third positions, respectively, while senior Payum Payman (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington), Stoddard and Hudgins allowed four points apiece in the first, fourth and sixth spots, respectively.
