Danishevsky and Radhakrishnan run Lyons' awards streak to four weeks

April 2, 2007

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College men's tennis standouts Brian Danishevsky (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall Country Day School) and Raymour Radhakrishnan (Amherst, NH/Bridgton Academy) were named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Doubles Team of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, April 1.

In four weeks of league awards this spring, the Lyons have been represented each time. This marked the third time Wheaton drew doubles accolades, as the senior duo became the second Blue and White tandem to draw NEWMAC honors this season. Danishevsky was also half of a doubles team that earned a league citation on March 20, 2006, while Radhakrishnan received his initial career accolade.

Danishevsky and Radhakrishnan notched an 8-3 victory in the second position during Wheaton's 9-0 win at Clark University on Saturday, as the Lyons opened their conference slate during their lone match of the week. The triumph marked the tandem's second victory of the spring. Danishevsky also won his second-spot singles match, 6-3, 6-2, and moved to 9-4 on the season, while Radhakrishnan now has four singles victories after drawing a 6-4, 6-0 triumph in the fourth slot.

The Lyons are 5-2 overall and 1-0 in NEWMAC action heading into their non-conference match at Roger Williams University on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
