Wheaton sweeps Clark behind six straight-set singles victoriesMarch 31, 2007 WORCESTER, MA- Each of the Wheaton College men's tennis team's six singles players recorded straight-set wins, as the Lyons picked up a 9-0 victory over Clark University on Saturday in each school's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener on Corash Tennis Courts. Wheaton is now 5-2 overall, while the Cougars are 1-3. The Blue and White's pair of senior doubles tandems each picked up victories. Brad Dressler (Cranston, RI/Cranston West) and Payum Payman (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) notched an 8-4 win at the top spot, while Brian Danishevsky (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall Country Day School) and Raymour Radhakrishnan (Amherst, NH/Bridgton Academy) earned an 8-3 triumph in the second position. At third doubles, freshmen Kyle Hudgins (Uxbridge, MA/Uxbridge) and James Little (Mount Desert, ME/Mount Desert Island) picked up their first victory as a tandem, notching a narrow 8-6 win against sophomores Ben Gross (Newton, MA/Newton North) and Ben Voynick (Austin, TX). In singles play, Wheaton breezed to six straight-set victories. Dressler pitched a shutout in the third slot, while Payman and Little yielded a lone point in the first and sixth positions, respectively. Hudgins allowed two points at five, Danishevsky corralled a 6-3, 6-2 win at two, and Radhakrishnan notched a 6-4, 6-0 triumph at four.
