Men's tennis completes 3-1 trip to Hilton Head by downing Tiffin, 7-2March 14, 2007 HILTON HEAD, SC- The Wheaton College men's tennis team rallied from a 2-1 deficit following doubles to sweep singles play during a 7-2 victory against Tiffin University of Ohio on Wednesday. The Lyons moved to 3-1 as they completed their spring break trip, while the Dragons fell to 4-3. Tiffin took a lead thanks to victories at the second and third doubles slots, while seniors Brad Dressler (Cranston, RI/Cranston West) and Payum Payman (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) notched Wheaton's lone doubles win at number one. The tandem recorded an 8-4 triumph, as Payman played his first match since winning his 100th career decision on Tuesday. In singles play, five Lyons won in straight sets, with freshman Kyle Hudgins (Uxbridge, MA/Uxbridge) earning the quickest victory, 6-0, 6-0 at the sixth slot. Payman won at one, 7-6, 6-0, while Dressler drew a 6-3, 6-2 triumph in the third position. Senior Will Stoddard (Huntington, VT/Mount Mansfield Union) won at four, 7-6, 7-6, while classmate Raymour Radhakrishnan (Amherst, NH/Bridgton Academy) picked up a 6-1, 7-5 victory at five. At the second slot, senior Brian Danishevsky (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall Country Day School) gutted out a three-set win. After losing the opening set to sophomore Tristan McLean (Port Clinton, OH) by a 7-6 count, Danishevsky swept McLean, 6-0 before winning the tie-breaker, 10-3. This page is maintained by Scott Dietz.
