Payman notches 100th career victory during Lyon win against Hobart

HILTON HEAD, SC- Senior Payum Payman (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) notched a pair of victories, including the 100th of his standout career, to help the Wheaton College men's tennis team cruise past Hobart College of New York, 9-0 on Tuesday. Wheaton is now 2-1, while Hobart is 3-4.

Payman teamed with senior Brad Dressler (Cranston, RI/Cranston West) for an 8-6 victory at the top doubles position for win number 99 before dispatching his number-one singles opponent, 6-2, 6-0 to reach the milestone.

Seniors Brian Danishevsky (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall Country Day School) and Raymour Radhakrishnan (Amherst, NH/Bridgton Academy) combined for an 8-3 win at second doubles, while senior Will Stoddard (Huntington, VT/Mount Mansfield Union) and freshman James Little (Mount Desert, ME/Mount Desert Island) joined to take a 5-3 lead in the third position before Hobart's tandem retired.

Danishevsky won by a 6-3, 6-0 count at second singles, and Dressler corralled a 6-1, 6-1 triumph in the third spot. Stoddard battled through a 7-6 win in his opening set at four before blanking his Hobart opponent in the second set. Radhakrishnan posted a pair of 7-5 set victories, and freshman Kyle Hudgins (Uxbridge, MA/Uxbridge) won by default at the sixth spot.

Wheaton plays Tiffin University of Ohio tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.
