Wheaton finishes southern trip with 3-1 mark after win over Southwestern

HILTON HEAD, SC- The Wheaton College men's tennis team completed its four-match southern trip with a 3-1 mark following a 5-2 win over Southwestern University on Wednesday.

The Blue and White earned points at each of the top four singles spots and in doubles. Junior Payum Payman (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) notched a 6-2, 6-2 win at number one and sophomore Sean Daly (Miami, FL/La Salle) picked up a 7-5, 6-2 victory at the second position while the duo also posted an 8-3 first doubles triumph.

Junior Brad Dressler (Cranston, RI/Cranston West) was nearly flawless during a 6-1, 6-0 fourth singles win, and classmate Brian Danishevsky (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall Country Day School) earned a 6-2, 6-3 decision at the third spot. Danishevsky and Dressler combined on an 8-5 second doubles win to clinch the Lyons the doubles point, while senior Nick Potter (Concord, NH/Concord) and junior Will Stoddard (Huntington, VT/Mount Mansfield Union) provided a 9-7 victory in the third doubles position.

The Lyons begin the northern portion of their spring schedule next Thursday, March 23 at Brandeis University at 4:00 p.m.
