Wheaton tennis collects 15th straight Hilton Head win following 7-0 decision over Vassar to begin spring playMarch 12, 2006 HILTON HEAD, SC- The Wheaton College men's tennis team maintained its winning ways in Hilton Head, South Carolina, Sunday afternoon as the Lyons collected their 15th straight victory on their southern trips with a 7-0 decision over Vassar College to open their spring season. Ranked 10th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) regional poll, Wheaton's win streak spans over four seasons. The Brewers fall to 1-3 in the loss. The Lyons swept their six singles matches and won two of three in doubles play to complete the scoring. Junior captain Payum Payman (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) and sophomore Sean Daly (Miami, FL/La Salle) led Wheaton with an 8-3 win at the top doubles spot before capturing their individual matches at first and second singles, respectively. Payman lost 6-3 in his opening set to junior Erik Skartvedt (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow) before posting convincing 6-0, 6-1 scores during the final two sets to pick up the victory. Senior captain Nick Potter (Concord, NH/Concord) sided with junior Raymour Radhakrishnan (Amherst, NH/Bridgton Academy) and secured an 8-3 triumph at third doubles, with Potter also winning 7-5, 7-5 in the fifth singles slot. Juniors Brian Danishevsky (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall Country Day) and Brad Dressler (Cranston, RI/Cranston West) posted straight-set wins at third and fourth singles, respectively, while classmate Will Stoddard (Huntington, VT/Mount Mansfield Union) won 6-4, 6-2 at number six.
