Lyons finish fourth overall at ECAC Championship in final tuneup before nationalsMarch 19, 2006 KEUKA PARK, NY- The Wheaton College synchronized swimming team continued its season with a fourth-place finish at this weekend's Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship held at Keuka College's Ayers Pool. Of the eight-team field, Wheaton's 69 points fell a mere point behind the College of William & Mary. Canisius College captured the team title with 101 points and host Keuka was second with 83. Wheaton's top finishes came in the team routines and solo portion of the meet. The Lyons' A team, consisting of junior captain Elizabeth Corman (Saint Paul, MN/Hill-Murray School), junior Sarah Swinkin (Hamden, CT/Hamden), sophomore captain Megan Kinney (Los Angeles, CA/Marlborough School), sophomore Esther Kovacs (Windham, NH/Academy of Notre Dame) and freshman Sylvia Syracuse (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore West), placed fourth overall. Wheaton's B team wasn't far behind with a fifth-place mark, as their squad was comprised of junior Renata Paglio (Portland, ME/Deering), sophomores Perri Kapp (Yarmouth Port, MA/Dennis-Yarmouth Regional), Ru-Huey Yen (Des Moines, IA/Abraham Lincoln) and Ru-Shyan Yen (Des Moines, IA/Abraham Lincoln) and freshman Kelly Maby (Woodhaven, NY/Richmond Hill). Kovacs took fourth in the solo routine while joining Syracuse for a sixth-place standing in the duet. Wheaton's trio finished sixth overall, as Corman, Kinney and Swinkin scored 76.333 points. In figures, Swinkin led the way in the C category, placing second to a swimmer from William & Mary. Kapp took fourth in D figures, Kinney eighth in the B category, Ru-Huey Yen eighth in D and Paglio ninth in D. The Lyons turn their attention to next weekend's United States Collegiate Championship held at Stanford University, where Wheaton hopes to improve upon last year's seventh-place finish.
