Synchronized swimming opens season with third-place showing at KeukaFebruary 4, 2006 KEUKA PARK, NY- The Wheaton College synchronized swimming team opened the 2006 season by placing third out of three teams at Keuka College on Saturday. The Lyons finished with 72.5 points, behind the University of Incarnate Word's 102 and host Keuka's 84. Junior Sarah Swinkin (Hamden, CT/Hamden) provided Wheaton's best finish of the afternoon, giving the top performance in the C figures, while siding with junior Elizabeth Corman (Saint Paul, MN/Hill-Murray School), sophomores Megan Kinney (Los Angeles, CA/Marlborough School) and Esther Kovacs (Windham, NH/Academy of Notre Dame) and freshman Sylvia Syracuse (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore West) for a third-place finish in the team competition with 72.583 points. The sextet of junior Renata Paglio (Portland, ME/Deering), sophomores Laura Fleck (Auburn, ME/Hebron Academy), Perri Kapp (Yarmouth Port, ME/Dennis-Yarmouth Regional), Ru-Huey Yen (Des Moines, IA/Abraham Lincoln) and Ru-Shyan Yen (Des Moines, IA/Abraham Lincoln) and freshman Kelly Maby (Woodhaven, NY/Richmond Hill) was right behind in fourth at 70.333 points. Wheaton's duet tandem of Kovacs and Syracuse scored 79.833 points during a fourth-place finish. Corman, Kinney and Swinkin performed the Blue and White's trio routine, notching 78 points while coming in fourth. Paglio turned in a second-place performance in D figures, followed closely by Fleck and Kapp, who were fourth and fifth, respectively. Kinney placed third in B figures.
