Rivals match up at MiddleburyFebruary 11, 2004 Written by Jennie Harper, Emerging Programs Manager for USA Synchro Middlebury, VT- On February 14, 2004, long time rivals, Keuka College and Wheaton College, will face off at the "Meet in the Middle"-- a dual synchronized swimming meet at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont. These competitive teams have been trading spaces at the top of the Eastern Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) throughout the history of their existence. In 2002, Keuka College placed second at the ECAC Conference Championships, with Wheaton finishing close behind in third place. At the 2003 U.S. Collegiate Nationals, Wheaton beat Keuka to place ninth while Wheaton finished in 10th place. Keuka College and Wheaton College are two of the 33 teams that compete each year for the Collegiate Title. The meet at Middlebury will be the first match up of the 2004 season between the two rivals. Keuka's synchronized swimming team will come in with renewed strength as they debut their seven new freshmen. In addition, Wheaton brings its experienced upperclassmen and a new head coach. The meet will be located in the world-class Middlebury Natatorium. See http://www.middlebury.edu/directions.htm for driving directions. The figure competition will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by routine competition at 3:00pm.
