Lyons capture second-place mark at ECAC Synchronized Swimming ChampionshipMarch 17, 2002 KEUKA, NY- The Wheaton College synchronized swimming team placed second overall at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship Sunday afternoon at Keuka College, as the Lyons finished with their highest placement since the 1998-99 season. Wheaton tallied 93 total points, trailing only champion Canisius College's 122 points. Keuka finished third with 89 points, while the College of William & Mary and the University of Pennsylvania rounded out the top five. The Lyons finished second to Division I Canisius in several events, including the solo, duet and team routines. Sophomore Beth Percy (St. Louis, MO/Parkway West) picked up a second-place mark as a soloist and then sided with junior co-captain Jamie Sallier (St. Louis, MO/Ladue Horton Watkins) for the runner up position in the duet routine. As a team, Wheaton earned second-place points behind Canisius and in front of Keuka, William & Mary and Penn, which gave the Lyons needed points to help secure their second-place finish. In the trio routine, Sallier teamed with junior co-captain Elizabeth Maga (Dayton, OH/Chaminade-Julienne) and first-year Blair Feldman (Tuscon, AZ/Green Fields Country Day School) for a fourth-place mark. Aside from Canisius, Percy was the top finisher in the meet for the technical elements A category, leading Wheaton to a fourth-place standing overall. Junior Emily Padow (Richmond, VA/The Steward School) paced the way in the B category, as she posted an 11th-place mark, while first-year athletes Jamie Olken (Rochester, NY/Brighton) and Bevin Hughes (Akron, OH/Walsh Jesuit) finished third and sixth, respectively in the C category. Sophomores Aimee Sears (Norwell, MA/Thayer Academy) and Andrea Barkoukis (Brecksville, OH/Gilmour Academy) earned third and ninth place marks in the D category. Wheaton's final meet this year will take place right in its backyard at Balfour Natatorium, as the Lyons get set to host their second-ever United States Synchronized Swimming Collegiate Championship.
