Synchronized swimming places third at East Collegiate Regional ChampionshipMarch 2, 2002 BUFFALO, NY- For the third straight season, the Wheaton College synchronized swimming team posted a third-place finish at the East Collegiate Regional Championship. This year's meet was held on Saturday at Canisius College. Host Canisius picked up the team title with 123 total points, while Division III rival Keuka College placed second overall with 95 points. The Lyons earned 90.5 points on the afternoon. Leading the way for Wheaton was junior co-captain Jamie Sallier (St. Louis, MO/Ladue Horton Watkins) and sophomore Beth Percy (St. Louis, MO/Parkway West), as the dynamic duo qualified for the United States National Championships, thanks to a second-place mark in the duet routine. Percy also qualified for the national meet for the second straight year in the solo portion of the competition, as she finished second overall. As a team, the Lyons captured a fourth-place mark, while tying Walsh University with a fifth-place result in the trio routine. Wheaton's second duet team, comprised of junior co-captain Elizabeth Maga (Dayton, OH/Chaminade-Julienne) and first-year Blair Feldman (Tuscon, AZ/Green Fields Country Day School), was knotted with Cornell University for fifth place. The technical elements part of the meet saw Percy place eighth overall in the A category and junior Emily Padow (Richmond, VA/The Steward School) seventh in the B category. In the C category, first-year athletes Jamie Olken (Rochester, NY/Brighton) and Bevin Hughes (Akron, OH/Walsh Jesuit) finished third and sixth, respectively, while sophomores Aimee Sears (Norwell, MA/Thayer Academy) and Andrea Barkoukis (Brecksville, OH/Gilmour Academy) captured the top two places in the D category for the second consecutive week.
