Kronenberg nabs trio of weekly honors from national, regional and conference outletsSeptember 18, 2006
The junior goalkeeper earned a spot on the 11-member D3Kicks.com Team of the Week, nabbed Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Defensive Player-of-the-Week honors and was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, September 17. Kronenberg received the second weekly conference award of her career, as she also earned one during the 2004 season. She helped nationally-ranked Wheaton to a 3-0 record last week by blanking consecutive opponents to set the school's career mark for complete-game shutouts at 27. In a 1-0 win over 2005 NCAA Tournament participant Worcester State College on Thursday, Kronenberg made three saves before turning aside six shots at University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday in a 2-0 win. Kronenberg has not allowed a goal in the last 218:40. Kronenberg notched 13 shutouts as a freshman and 12 as a sophomore before her two this fall moved her past Emily Boeing '02 for the Wheaton record. She has started four of seven games for Wheaton, which is 6-1 and ranked 23rd in the country by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Kronenberg is fourth in the league with an .800 winning percentage (4-1) and fifth with a 0.86 goals against average. The Lyons have posted a league-high four shutouts and possess the fourth-best defense, having yielded just six goals. Kronenberg leads them back into action on Wednesday, as Wheaton travels to Eastern Connecticut State University for a 4:30 p.m. game. The Blue and White looks to avenge a 1-0 loss to the Warriors last September 21 that snapped Wheaton's 49-game regular season home winning streak. This page is maintained by Scott Dietz.
