Cote draws weekly honors from D3Kicks.com and NEWMAC

October 1, 2007

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College men's soccer standout Trevor Cote (Portsmouth, RI/Providence Country Day School) drew honors from both D3Kicks.com and the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) for the week ending on Sunday, September 30. He was one of 11 players from around the nation to be named to the D3Kicks.com Team of the Week, and Cote also earned NEWMAC Player-of-the-Week accolades. It was the first weekly conference award of the senior midfielder's career.

During a 2-0 week for the regionally-ranked Lyons, Cote tallied the game-winning goal in each contest, including an 81st-minute marker that snapped a tie against NEWMAC foe Springfield College. On Tuesday, he sent home the first goal of the game in the ninth minute of a 3-0 victory versus visiting Roger Williams University. At Springfield on Saturday, Cote scored with 9:37 remaining in regulation to cap Wheaton's rally from a 2-0 deficit during a 3-2 win.

Each of Cote's past three goals has gone down as a game-winner, dating back to his marker in the 2006 NEWMAC Tournament championship game. The two-time all-conference selection has also added an assist this season while starting all 11 games he has played.

The co-captain leads Wheaton, which is tied for fifth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's (NSCAA) New England poll, back into action tomorrow with a home contest against Wesleyan University at 4:00 p.m.
