Track's Harlow tabbed with ECAC laurels for third time this seasonFebruary 21, 2007
Harlow has enjoyed much success during her senior indoor campaign, as today's ECAC honor marks her third, including ECAC accolades on January 9 and 30. The Wheaton track and field teams have also received a great deal of attention from the ECAC, as Harlow's announcement marks the sixth time in seven weeks that a male or female athlete picked up a weekly honor. Harlow shared this week's award with Williams College senior Caroline Doctor. A national champion high jumper, Harlow surpassed an NCAA national meet automatic qualifying standard by matching her nation's best jump at the USATF New England Championship on Sunday at Harvard University. Harlow equaled January 7's top performance of 5' 8" while tying a Division I athlete for the best jump among collegians in the event, tying for second overall. Reaching an NCAA qualifying height for the fifth time this season, Harlow also provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship by winning the 60-meter hurdles event. Her time of 9.01 converts over to a 55M hurdles time of 8.43, which ties for the 12th-fastest Division III mark in the country and fourth best in New England. Wheaton has just two meets remaining prior to the March 9-10 national championship, beginning with this weekend's All New England Championship at Boston University. The two-day meet is slated to start on Friday at 10:00 a.m. This page is maintained by Scott Dietz. Last updated on 2/21/07. |
