Wheaton's Harlow corrals ECAC track honor

January 31, 2007

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College women's indoor track and field standout Jennifer Harlow (East Bridgewater, MA/East Bridgewater) was honored as Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Track Co-Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, January 28.

The honor marked the fourth straight week in which a male or female Lyon earned an ECAC accolade, a streak that includes Harlow being named the top field athlete on January 9. Harlow shared this week's award with Williams College junior Maddie Outman.

Harlow, a senior All-American, provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship by winning the 55-meter hurdles competition on Saturday at the Wesleyan Invitational. Harlow's time of 8.46 also tied for the best in New England this season and tied for the fifth best in the nation. Her time was better than the one she recorded during the preliminary round by 0.27 seconds.

Harlow's victory was her second in three 55M hurdles competitions this season - she missed first during a runner-up finish by 0.01 seconds - and she has now met provisional qualifications twice in the event. Harlow also won the high jump on Saturday for the fourth time in as many tries this year.

The Wheaton men's and women's squads continue their indoor seasons on Friday and Saturday at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in the New York City Armory.
