James earns second ECAC Track Athlete-of-the-Week honorFebruary 3, 2004 NORTON, MA- Wheaton College women's indoor track and field standout Amber James (Woodbury, MN/Woodbury) collected her second Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Track Athlete-of-the-Week honor of the season, this time for the week ending on Sunday, February 1. James, a senior sprinter with the Lyons, stole the show in the 400-meter dash at Saturday's Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University, as the three-time national champion in the indoor 400M event exploded to a school-record time of 55.01, breaking her own mark of 55.13 set in the winter of 2003. James not only posted an NCAA Division III national meet automatic qualifying time but also holds the distinction of having the fastest 400-meter dash performance to date. She finished fifth overall and was the second fastest collegiate competitor behind an athlete from Division I St. John's University. James also competed in the 55M dash, where she tied for ninth in 7.40. The reigning five-time national champion women will continue competition on Saturday, February 7, when Wheaton travels to Medford for the Tufts University Invitational III. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. This page is maintained by Scott Dietz. Last updated on 1/30/07. |
