Wheaton track teams slated to appear on national broadcasts

NORTON, MA- The Wheaton College men's and women's track & field 4x400-meter relay teams are slated to appear on national broadcasts for the 96th running of the Verizon Millrose Games Friday night at New York's Madison Square Garden.

The men are scheduled for a live broadcast tonight during ESPN2 coverage from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Along with Long Island University, C.W. Post College, Monmouth University and Colgate University, the men are slated to run at 8:45 p.m. EST.

The women are expected to be part of taped coverage on NBC Sports Saturday from 2:30-4:00 p.m. EST. They will compete against Seton Hall University, Pratt Institute, Long Island, St. John's University, C.W. Post and Robert Morris University.

Juniors Erik Benson (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) and Tyrone McClain (New Haven, CT/Hillhouse), sophomore Adam Walker (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) and freshman Ajay Sisodia (Andover, MA/Andover) will comprise the men's 4x400-meter relay team.

On the women's side, juniors Amber James (Woodbury, MN/Woodbury) and Vernick Smith (Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson) and freshmen Aquila Williams-Judge (Boston, MA/Scituate) and Oly Wirtz (Fitchburg, MA/Fitchburg) will form the women's relay squad.

Regarded as the nation's greatest indoor track meet, the Millrose Games has been a sporting fixture in New York City since 1908. Held annually since 1914, Millrose Games is the longest running sport event in Madison Square Garden history.

In all, 87 world indoor records have been set or equaled and 117 Millrose Winners have been Olympic Champions. The Millrose Games is part of the prestigious USA Track & Field "Golden Spike Tour".
