Benson named ECAC Track Athlete of the Week

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College men's indoor track and field standout, Erik Benson (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, January 12.

Benson, an All-American in the 400-meter dash, made the most of his junior year debut Sunday afternoon at the 34th annual Dartmouth Relays in Hanover, New Hampshire. He landed a victory in the 400-meter event with an NCAA Division III national meet provisional qualifying time of 49.28 seconds. Benson helped lead the Wheaton men to a sixth-place finish among the 28 competing teams. The Lyons posted 21 points on the afternoon.

Benson and Wheaton are back in action this Sunday, January 19, as the Lyons will compete at the Greater Boston Track Club (GBTC) Invitational held at Harvard University.
