Quartet of Wheaton field hockey players named to all-region squadsNovember 13, 2006 NORTON, MA- Four Wheaton College field hockey players earned Division III All-Region honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA), as one was named to the New England East Region first team and three drew second-team accolades. Junior Sara Dimick (Cumberland, ME/Greely) was Wheaton's first teamer after being named to the second team last year, while senior Shea Clarke (Bellingham, MA/Bellingham), junior Lyndsie Ryalls (Branford, CT/Branford) and sophomore Alisa Ardito (Branford, CT/Branford) were each placed on the second team and nabbed their first all-region nod. A forward, Dimick led the Lyons in goals (18), assists (11), points (47) and game-winning tallies (six) this fall, breaking single-season school records for points and assists along the way. Wheaton went 15-2 when Dimick recorded a point. As a member of the all-region first team, Dimick is eligible for NFHCA All-America consideration. Clarke started 22 games in the backfield while scoring four goals and contributing 10 assists. She will graduate as the school's leader in career games (78) and helpers (21). Ryalls contributed to Wheaton's school-record offense, which netted 59 goals, thanks to six tallies and six assists. Also an attacker, Ardito collected five goals and 10 assists, tying Clarke for second in program history for single-season helpers. The quartet led the Lyons to a 15-8 record, breaking the school mark of 13 wins set in 1983 and 1991. Wheaton advanced to the semifinals of a conference tournament for the first time since 1997, while the Blue and White tied a program standard with five league victories. After qualifying for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament for the first time since 1995, the Lyons advanced to their inaugural ECAC championship game.
