Boll corrals initial NEWMAC weekly honor of careerOctober 9, 2006
The senior goalkeeper was honored for her role in the Lyons' 2-0 victory over Babson College last Tuesday during Wheaton's lone game of the week, a win which snapped the Blue and White's eight-game losing streak against the Beavers. Boll made seven saves while backstopping the Lyons to their first shutout of Babson since the 1991 New England Women's 8 (NEW 8) Tournament, their first home win over the Beavers since 1996 and their first series victory since 1998. With the Lyons off to an 11-3 start, their best since 1983, Boll has quietly put together a solid season between the pipes. She is first in the conference in each wins (11) and winning percentage (.786) and is tied with one other keeper for first in shutouts (3). Boll is also third in saves per game (8.3) and fourth in save percentage (.835). She has yielded only two goals in 210 minutes during conference play. Her 11 wins are two shy of matching a 23-year-old school record, as she has appeared in 997:30 of a possible 1002:54 this fall while starting all 14 games. Prior to this season, Boll had seen action in only 21 college games, making 16 starts and posting a 10-6 record. Boll leads the Lyons, who are off to a 3-0 league start for the first time since 1994, against Clark University tomorrow evening. The NEWMAC contest in Worcester is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. This page is maintained by Scott Dietz. Last updated on 2/15/07. |
