Wheaton falls in Seven Sisters Tournament final to Wellesley, 4-1September 17, 2006 SWARTHMORE, PA- The Wheaton College field hockey team was the lone squad among the Seven Sisters Tournament's eight-school field to place three players on the all-tournament team despite a 4-1 loss to Wellesley College in Sunday's championship tilt. The Lyons fell to 6-3, while the Blue improved to 4-1 and claimed at least a share of its fourth straight tournament crown. A trio of Wheaton juniors made the all-tournament team, as back Kim Anson (Washington, CT/Shepaug Valley) and forwards Sara Dimick (Cumberland, ME/Greely) and Lyndsie Ryalls (Branford, CT/Branford) each drew laurels. Wellesley took a 1-0 lead into the locker room behind an unassisted goal from senior Beth Kelley (Lynnfield, MA/Lynnfield), who tallied 15 minutes before halftime. The Blue pulled away in the second half, turning a one-goal game with less than 20 minutes remaining into a 4-0 lead by 6:13. Senior Jenn Shrull (Windham, NH/Pinkerton) tallied at 19:36, and senior sisters Julia and Lydia Parzych (Auburn, MA/Auburn) completed Wellesley's scoring with goals at 9:31 and 6:13. Kelly assisted on the final marker. The Lyons got on the board with 5:24 remaining, as senior Rachel Sminkey (White River Junction, VT/Hartford) converted sophomore Alisa Ardito's (Branford, CT/Branford) pass for her eighth goal. Senior Mary Catherine Boll (Columbus, IN/Miss Porter's School) made 12 saves for the Lyons, while sophomore Emily Hewitt (Alexandria, VA/Saint Stephens and Saint Agnes School) turned aside eight shots.
