Wheaton's Rowland chosen for NFHCA North/South Senior All-Star gameNovember 16, 2005 NORTON, MA- Wheaton College field hockey senior Elizabeth Rowland (Holliston, MA/Holliston) has been selected to participate in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III North/South Senior All-Star game on Saturday at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. The contest is slated for a 9:30 a.m. start. The North and South teams are comprised of 19 players each, and Rowland was one of four players from New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) institutions invited to play. Wheaton's co-captain and central midfielder, Rowland started 19 games while setting a career high with 17 points and matching the personal best of seven tallies set her freshman season. She also netted game-winning goals in consecutive matches in mid-September and contributed a defensive save during a one-goal NEWMAC win in early October. Rowland will graduate fifth at Wheaton with 50 career points, tied for fifth with 10 assists and tied for sixth with 20 goals. During her career, Rowland missed only one game, appearing in 74 contests while making 72 starts. Over her four-year career, Rowland has received a number of awards, including being a NEWMAC All-Conference selection each of the past three seasons. She was named to the NFHCA All-New England team as a sophomore and junior, chosen for the NFHCA National Academic squad her first three years and selected NEWMAC Academic All-Conference last fall. Rowland triggered the second-best scoring offense in program history this fall, as the Lyons netted 39 goals and finished with an 8-12 overall mark. This page is maintained by Scott Dietz.
