Ryalls nets a pair as Lyons down Corsairs, 4-1 in non-conference actionOctober 13, 2005 NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA- Sophomore Lyndsie Ryalls (Branford, CT/Branford) scored twice to push the Wheaton College field hockey team past the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, 4-1 in a non-conference match Thursday afternoon on Cressy Field. The Lyons improved to 5-9 while UMass-Dartmouth, a member of the Little East Conference (LEC), fell to 6-8. Wheaton's win was its second in three contests following a four-game losing streak. Ryalls continued her strong second half of the season, as she now has six goals in the last six matches and a career-high eight tallies this fall. Just 4:39 into the game, Ryalls put the Lyons ahead after battling for a loose ball in front of the cage. With 12:10 remaining in the opening stanza, junior Shea Clarke (Bellingham, MA/Bellingham) converted senior Elizabeth Rowland's (Holliston, MA/Holliston) pass off a penalty corner to extend Wheaton's lead, but UMass-Dartmouth senior Robin Dziedzic (Palmer, MA/Palmer) cut the lead in half five minutes later. After Wheaton led, 2-1 at halftime, Rowland reestablished the Lyons' two-goal lead with 19:26 remaining in regulation, and Ryalls netted a backhander 1:16 later to ice the game. Wheaton senior keeper Emily Fiskio (Branford, CT/Branford) made seven stops, while junior Elizabeth Fitzgerald (Danvers, MA/Danvers) turned aside 17 shots for the Corsairs. During the game, the Lyons held a commanding 31-15 advantage in shots. Rowland moved into a tie for fifth in program history with 47 career points and into a tie for seventh in goals with her 19th tally.
