Zukowski selected to play in Division III NEBCA Senior All-Star game

April 21, 2007

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College men's basketball senior Brian Zukowski (Dracut, MA/Dracut) was selected to play in this weekend's Division III New England Basketball Coaches Association (NEBCA) Senior All-Star game. The contest will be played at Babson College's Staake Gymnasium on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. with proceeds going to the Coaches vs. Cancer campaign.

Rosters were selected by several committees made up of area college coaches and were released by Stephen Brennan, the NEBCA Executive Secretary and current Babson head coach. Zukowski will play on the home team, which consists of players from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), independent institutions, Little East Conference (LEC) and Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC).

The road team is comprised of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), North Atlantic Conference (NAC) and New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).

Zukowski turned in a stellar senior campaign for the Lyons, pacing the squad in scoring, three-point field goal and free throw percentages, assists and steals. Named to the NEWMAC All-Conference second team for the third successive season, Zukowski averaged 16.1 points and 4.2 rebounds while tallying 117 assists and 44 steals. He made 34.2 percent of his three-point attempts and an impressive 86.0 percent from the charity stripe.

Among the NEWMAC leaders in several categories during the winter, Zukowski was tied for second for free throws (135), third in free throw percentage and fifth in assists. Zukowski, who is just the fifth Lyon to surpass 1,400 career points, is one of 11 in the school's 1,000-point club. He is the only player to score 1,350 points, grab 400 boards, dish out 250 assists and corral 150 steals. Zukowski finished his career first in school history in free throw percentage, second in steals and third in each assists and free throws. He also placed fourth in three-pointers, fifth in points, field goals and three-point percentage and eighth in games.

In addition to Sunday's game, there will be a free clinic at 3:30 p.m. run by several of the game's participants and area coaches along with raffle items that include Boston Celtics memorabilia and a chance to make a shot from half court for $50,000.

Tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for students, and children under 12 are admitted free.
